THE BOAT

The 80 ft twin hull catamaran was custom designed in August of 2005. The Odyssey is among the largest liveaboard dive boats operating in the Coral Sea. She has ample space for up to 16 divers with private cabins and quad shares. The boat is well-equipped for diving with an expansive dive deck, individual seating and storage facilities, and has a short stairway descent to a water level entry platform. A very quiet compressor keeps the tanks filled and ready to use. Two extra dive tenders permit groups to dive and explore the many bommies within the surrounding lagoon anchorage.

MARION REEF

The Coral Sea Ultimate Adventure to Marion Reef accommodates only 12 guests per week over a four week period. All trips comprise of 6 days diving and 6 night dives onboard the Odyssey. Isolated sand cays, large coral atolls, unique biodiversity, sharks, whales, and untouched crystal clear tropical reefs are just some of the features of Marion Reef. Due to the combination of cool and warm currents throughout the year, Marion Reef receives a mixture of northern and southern species. Everything from dwarf minke whales to manta rays, turtles, and lots of sharks.

THE DIVING

Among the discovered dives, one of the best has been the Cinema. Just imagine sitting back and watching a school of over 300 bigeye trevally, 40 grey reef whalers circling, 2 silver tips, a large school of barracuda in the distance, and about fifteen dogtooth tuna wandering past every couple of minutes or so. There have also been some close encounters with a few very curious dwarf minke whales. Regular visibility of 50+ meters.
