Luggage safety and security

There has been a general increase in the incident of theft of personal belongings from checked-in luggage. In southern Africa this level is unacceptably high and although authorities are addressing this, the level remains high. It is of utmost importance that guests do not put anything of high value (personal or financial value) in their checked-in baggage as luggage can be tampered with and valuables removed. This includes, but is not limited to jewellery, cameras, video equipment, reading /sunglasses, laptops or other computer/electronic equipment, medication (especially chronic medication) etc. This is in our pretour information however it needs to be clearly communicated to guests in good time. Please also advise guests to lock their luggage with a suitable lock to deter opportunistic theft.  

Passport requirements

Our passport control has become very strict to the point of deporting a number of guests due to their passport not complying with the control requirements. Passports MUST be valid for at least six months from the guests' return home date. We recommend a validity of nine months to prevent any problems in this regard. There must be at least three blank VISA pages in the passport (not endorsement pages). Guests have been deported due to not having sufficient Visa pages in their passports. Again this is in our pretour information which we trust each guest traveling on our arrangements receives, however it needs to be clearly communicated to guests in good time.

Guest names

The names provided MUST match the passport details. Mr.or Mrs. is not permitted. The name must be FULL first name (no nickname or abbreviated names) and FULL surname (family name). If this is not 100% correct the guest could be denied boarding the flight. We need these names to be correct up front in order for the bookings to be made and vouchers to be created. This is in our pretour information and again it needs to be clearly communicated to guests in good time so we act on the correct details. The only occasion where names are not required in advance, is for groups exceeding 10 guests. In these cases the names are required within the ticketing time limits.
