LIMPOPO HORSE SAFARIS

Your adventure begins by entering the region where over 800 elephants are scattered amongst numerous leopards, lions, cheetahs, African wildcats, antelope, jackal, bat-eared fox, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest. In the "Land of Giants," activities such as game-viewing, log-jumping, cantering alongside herds of zebra, and luxuries such as bedded tents, sundowners around the campfire, and candlelit dinners await you.

This safari brings guests from wilderness fly camps to Mashatu camp, kgotla "sleeping under the stars" and Fort Jameson. Not only the excellent game-viewing but the world-class guiding and horsemanship combined with attention to detail and comfort set this safari on a whole other level. Riders are in the saddle between 4 and 7 hours per day, enjoying canters, galloping, and jumping logs knowing that a sundowner and a three-course dinner await each evening.

BIG 5 4 days in South Africa and 4 days in Botswana
Combining the best of Horizon Safaris in South Africa with the Limpopo Valley Safaris of Botswana, delivers the opportunity to view the Big Five (buffalo, elephant, rhino, leopard, and lion). Both are regions of great diversity with a unique richness in landscape and wildlife that stand on their own. With four days at Horizon and four days at Limpopo, guests will enjoy the luxurious Dinaka or Jembis lodges followed by safari nights in Botswana. In March and November only, rides include two nights of Mashatus (see below) stays so you can try different horses, ride twice per day and explore the area more extensively.

ACCOMMODATIONS A-frame tents with beds, sheets, and duvet covers. Private long drop loo and shared bucket showers at the wilderness fly camps and Two Mashatus Camp. Expect running hot water for showers at the Kgtola camp - an old tribal court-turned wilderness camp.
