Nestled in the foothills of the Chyulu Hills in Southern Kenya with panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro lies 1.4 million acres of incredible riding opportunities with a variety of ecosystems from rolling savannah plains to acacia forests and volcanic hills.

THE CHYULU HILLS

The hills rise from 3,000 feet to 7,500 feet and run for 40 miles. Due to the lack of water in the hills, wildlife is more prolific in the low country where 38 recorded species of large mammals including the Big Five -- Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, and Lion -- plus the plains game dominated by zebra, wildebeest, and eland. There is also a huge variety of bird and plant life to be found in this area.

THE SAFARI

Enjoy a luxury mobile tented camp, vmoving between destinations each day, or ride out daily from the comfort of Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge. If you need a break from riding, game drives and walks are also available. All rides are guided by Patrick Stanton and Nicola Young, a couple with an infectious enthusiasm for Africa, wildlife, and their horses. Along with your guides, there is a cook, waiter, general staff, and a groomer for the horses. They take care of everything you might need.

ACCOMMODATION

The tents on mobile safaris are large and spacious, and you can easily stand up inside of them. There is an ensuite bathroom with a bucket shower and traditional safari style toilet. Lanterns and torches provide the light at night and all linen, soap, and towels are provided. Full board accommodation, house wines, beer and soft drinks are all provided. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated as well.
