SAMPLE ITINERARY - KILIMANJARO RIDE

Day 1: Arrival at Uto Farm. Introduction to guides and support crew. Try out and select your horse and tack. Afternoon tea, sundowners on the veranda, dinner in the Cape Dutch style farmhouse.
Day 2: Set off in the morning, passing local village settlements of the Mwa-arush tripe with their well-built mud and thatch huts. Emerge onto the open plains heading for the top of the Matissiwi escarpment with fantastic views. Lunch in the shade of an acacia tree. Continue riding with beautiful afternoon views of the surrounding valley. Camp overnight.
Day 3: After breakfast, head north towards the twin hills camp. The country changes, becoming more covered with bush. Good prospects for encountering gerenuk, giraffe, oryx, zebra, grants, and thompson's gazelle. Pace relatively slow due to uneven terrain.
Day 4: Ride toward Poachers Hill where lunch will be served. Passing rocky outcropings in search of Lesser Kudu and Hyrax. Follow a flood plain to the east towards Kilimanjaro. After lunch, head north towards camp at the edge of the Ngasurai Plains.
Day 5: Cross the Ngasurai Plains heading late morning into the edge of dense woodland frequented by elephant. Afternoon ride through thick bush, up the lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro to Ndarakwai Ranch-turned wildlife protection area. Likely sightings of elephant and numerous other species.
Day 6: Rest Day. Riding is optional. Game viewing by Land Rover is offered.
Day 7: Head back to Uto Farm. Ride through village lands and open country, camping near the Ngarenanyuki River.
Day 8: Ride back to Uto Farm arriving late afternoon. Overnight at Uto Farm.
Day 9: Checkout after breakfast.
