THE RESORT
Deep in the nearly two million acres of Achuar territory, Kapawi is accessible only by air. Guests can expect gracious hospitality, creature comforts, excellent cuisine, and a haven of ease, good taste, and understated luxury. A raised boardwalk connects the guest en-suite cabins and several large communal buildings which all rest on stilts around an ephemeral lagoon crowded with plant and bird life. Each building is an example of authentic, traditional Achuar design concepts. They are spacious, sustainable, well-ventilated, and creature-proof. Daily visitors include hummingbirds, ducks, egrets, and kingfishers.
ACTIVITIES
Located in the territorial lands of an indigenous nation with 6000 people living in 64 communities as they have done for generations, Kapawi provides guests a range and depth of cultural experiences unmatched by any other rainforest lodge.
Other activities include swimming in the lakes and rivers around the lodge, tubing, bird watching, hiking on self-guided trails, night canoeing, clay lick visits, night guided hikes, fishing, overnight camping, and relaxing.
