Located just 50 miles north of Australia, the eastern half of the main island is Papua New Guinea while the western half is Irian Jaya, Indonesia. A confluence of two ocean currents coupled with a lack of commercial development helps support these nutrient filled waters and divers can expect to see everything, including the rare and exotic, WWII Wrecks, tropical reefs of hard and soft corals and pelagics. The best diving season is considered May through November, though many operations offer year round itineraries. |
