Nkwichi Lodge
On the shores of ‘The Lake of Stars’ (Lake Malawi) in Northern Mozambique skilled local craftsmen have constructed the spacious and secluded Nkwichi lodge, which can only be reached by boat. Set in the pristine Manda Wilderness conservation area, Nkwichi Lodge offers something for all tastes, representing a true merging of luxury with adventure. The beach on the shores of the lake with its fine, white sand is the central feature around which the lodge has been built. Excellent cuisine, fine wine and lake sunsets complement perfectly a variety of activities and expeditions. Simply relax on a secluded beach or let us arrange guided trekking and bush walks in the reserve, canoeing on the lake or up the many rivers, bird and wildlife watching, snorkelling amongst the finest array of freshwater fish in the world, visits the many community projects supported at Manda Wilderness and much, much more.

ACCOMMODATION
Each of the 7 chalets and 2 houses are cleverly tucked into the trees along the lakeshore providing unique views across the crystal clear water. The unique creations, built with an imaginative use of indigenous materials to fit in perfectly with their surroundings have direct access to a beach and are privately catered for.The chalets all vary in size and design depending on their setting but are all made of local wood, stone and grass thatch. Every chalet features a sturdy four-poster bed made of old tree trunks and covered in beautifully crafted mosquito nets.
Malolo House - This private retreat deep in the African bush overlooks the lake and features two en-suite bedrooms with high thatched roofs and an upstairs platform to relax and watch the sunset. There is private access to swimming in the lake and meals are provided on-site by a private chef. The house is a ten-minute walk to the main lodge.
Songea House and Chalet - A private escape for family and friends, the house and chalet feature an entertaining venue, luxurious outside dining, and a secluded private beach. The open-plan design boasts a grand-dome thatched roof with a circular reception room and sunken sitting area. the bedroom adjoins to a balcony overlooking the central downstairs, and the separate chalet features an en-suite bathroom with a double-bath and views across the lake. Meals are provided on-site by a private chef and is a ten minute walk to the main lodge. |

CONSERVATION
The aim of The Manda Wilderness Project is to encourage local communities to create and manage their own conservation area. By providing training, helping communities to organise themselves and increasing income, the quality of life has improved drastically, wildlife numbers have started to recover from the civil war, and the community now work together as they have never done so before. |
