Australia - Sydney & Surrounds: Hunter Valley: 2 Day Historic Hunter Valley Vintage Tour

The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest, most visited wine region and is an easy two-hour drive north from Sydney. There are over 100 cellar doors to visit, with the region being renowned world wide for its varieties of Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Brokenback Range, the area embraces many regions including Pokolbin, Rothbury, Broke Fordwich, Lovedale, Wollombi Valley and Mount View.

To compliment the wine, The Hunter is also renowned for its first-rate restaurants, all of which make good use of the local produce – Hunter beef, cheeses, duck, game, olives, stone fruits and honey which are all found in the area.

Leaving your hotel you will travel through the historic Rocks area before crossing over the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge. Heading on through the leafy Northern Suburbs, & then escape through the brilliant sandstone outcrops of Ku-ring-gai National Park to reach the mighty Hawkesbury River. You will stop for morning tea deep in the bush & then continue on to the historic township of Wollombi, famous for its local brew called Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice. Stroll through the villages before departing for the Broken Back Range & climb the escarpment to Mt View before descending into the Hunter Valley to begin your wine tasting at a few of the very special boutique wineries in the area. You will have a chance to chat to the owners, admire their cottage locations & let them show off the best of their vintages.

In the foothills of the Broken Back Range, you will enjoy lunch & spend the afternoon visiting some of the larger vineyards for more superb wine tastings. As the afternoon approaches you will be transferred to your accommodation in the Hunter Valley. Explore some boutique vineyards, sample the local produce, or simply relax to the awe-inspiring scenery of the Hunter Valley. Staying overnight in the Hunter Valley allows you the entire afternoon and following morning to base your adventures.

By mid afternoon the next day you will reluctantly bid farewell to the vineyards of the Hunter Valley and return to your Sydney accommodation around 6pm.
