CARIBBEAN ADVENTURES

Belize: Isla Marisol Resort

Set in the exotic environment of the tropics, Isla Marisol Resort offers beach combing, scuba diving, and fishing vacations on a private, family-owned island. The island is one of five atoll islands on Glover's Reef Atoll--declared a heritage site by the United Nations and a national protected area by the government of Belize. The nature of this beautiful Caye has remained largely the same for over 50 years, creating a secluded tropical paradise that allows guests to simply enjoy it the way it was meant to be.

Facilities:

The island's restaurant serves breakfast and lunch buffet style, along with dinner as guests endulge in the local cuisine and the views of the sea. With seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables from family farms and gardens, the food is served fresh from the oven and from the region. The bar is located close to the water, serving a wide variety of drinks.

For the Adventure Traveler:

Guests can snorkel, kayak, dive, fish, or take advantage of the pre-packaged resort adventures which explore medicinal trails, botanical gardens, caves, birding areas, canopy walks, and Maya ruins. Trek through the rainforest, play in rivers, pools and waterfalls, canoe, tube, hike, cycle, or horseback ride--the choice is yours.

For the Dive Enthusiast:

The underwater world of Belize exceeds every other Caribbean dive destination in diversity, size and scope. Extending over 185 miles north to south, the Belize Barrier Reef system is the greatest stretch of coral in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest barrier reef in the world. The reef system encompasses wall drop-offs, pinnacles, spur and groove formations, swim-throughs and more.

The Lighthouse Reef, the Turneffe Island Atoll and Glover's Reef Atoll together cover more than 400 square miles with a total of 140 miles of drop-off walls. Isla Marisol offers each guest 15-17 dives per week per person. Each of the 15 dive sites in the area showcases a different view of Belize's unique underworld. Each dive lasts roughly 45 minutes after which you will return to the island for meals or simply to gather your breath for the next dive.

For a Romantic Escape:

Couples can take in the beautiful sunrise and sunset from the pier or simply meander along the white sand beaches. After relaxing in a hammock, couples can enjoy activities such as swimming, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, exploring the rain forest, or participating in one of the various adventure packages.

Accommodations:

Cabanas - The cozy island cabanas stretch across the white sand as they overlook the creek or reef. Built for two guests, the rooms vary from single, double, or queen size beds. The cabanas are equipped with private baths, hot and cold water, air conditioning, a porch with a hammock, and daily housekeeping.

Reef House - This two bed, two bath house has a 40 ft veranda with spectacular views of the sea, a living room, kitchen and bar.
