Rich with a multitude of treasures, Taha'a was once an object of rivalry between the kings of Bora Bora and Raiatea during the 18th and 19th centuries. Numerous archaeological sites attest this part of history. Over 40 sites and 100 structures, sometimes swallowed up by the blue lagoon, have so far been identified on the island.

The marine fauna is incredibly rich, varied and colourful. Underwater topography is also not without interest, with impressive depths, grottoes and crevices. One of the islands special features is the presence of the Distichopora coral, which creates superb yellow and violet tones on the outward slopes. There are more than 25 recorded sites around Taha'a and Raiatea, as well as localised dive sites at two of the eight passes through the reef into the single lagoon shared by both islands.

Dive spots are 10 to 25 minutes by boat from the hotel and undertaken through Taha’a Blue Nui Dive Centre. The Dive Centre is located on the beach of the hotel about 20 yards from the arrival and departure boat.
